2-bromo-1-phenyl-1-pentanone is a white crystalline powder, a derivative of valerone. It can be used as pharmaceutical intermediates.
preparation
At room temperature, 16.2g (0.1mol) of phenopentanone and 30.9g (0.3mol) of sodium bromide were added into 500 mL round-bottomed flask, and after stirring well, 24g (0.2mol) of 30% hydrochloric acid was added, and 19g (0.15mol) of 30% hydrogen peroxide was slowly added. The reaction was continued for 1~2 hours. After the reaction was completed, the stirring was stopped, the stratification was left to stand, and the mixture was washed with saturated sodium carbonate and saturated salt water, combined with organic phase, concentrated and dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate to obtain 2-bromo-1-phenyl-1-pentanone, a bright yellow oily liquid with 95% yield and 98% purity (HPLC method).
