Anastrozole is a potent selective triazole aromatase inhibitor that inhibits cytochrome P-450 dependent aromatase and thereby blocks estrogen biosynthesis, a major factor in stimulating breast cancer cell growth. The 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of aromatase against human placenta is 15nmol/L.
Application:
Third generation aromatase inhibitors. It's used to treat postmenopausal women with advanced breast cancer. A potent selective triazole aromatase inhibitor that blocks the cytochrome P-450 dependent aromatase and thereby blocks the biosynthesis of estrogen, a major factor in stimulating breast cancer cell growth.
