Orally administered Sodium picosulfate is commonly used to completely empty the intestines and is typically used in patients who are ready for colonoscopy. It works very fast, so it is recommended to enter the toilet at any time. It makes the bowel movements looser and more frequent, but the patient should experience diarrhea after taking an hour or so.
