It is mainly used in the production of anion exchange resins, as solvents and special fuels. The solubility of nitrocellulose is stronger than that of ether and acetone, and the mixture of methanol and azeotrope can dissolve nitrocellulose with high nitrogen content. However, because of its strong anaesthetic vapor, it is not suitable to be used as a general solvent, usually as a special vocal solvent. It is also used in perfume manufacturing, artificial resin production and reaction medium of Grignard reaction and Rapa reaction.
