Rapastinel

Rapatinide is a NMDAR (N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor) regulator with some agonist properties. Rapastinel is a new antidepressant drug, which has been approved as an adjuvant therapy for refractory major depression. It is a centrally active, intravenous (non oral) amidated tetrapeptide that acts as a selective, weak local agonist (mixed antagonist / agonist) at the glycine site of the NMDA receptor complex (emax25%). The drug is a fast, long-acting antidepressant, and has the ability to inhibit and enhance NMDA receptor-mediated signal transduction. It is a powerful intellectual enhancer.
