Introduction: (s) - timolol maleate as a new potentβReceptor blockers, Pβ1 andβBoth β 2 receptors were blocked, with an 8-fold strength of action as propranolol, no membrane stabilizing effect, no endogenous sympathomimetic activity, no direct inhibition of cardiac action, and significant IOP lowering effect.It is used clinically to treat hypertension, angina, tachycardia and glaucoma.It has a better response to mild or moderate hypertension without significant adverse effects and can be combined with diuretics.Long term medication of patients with myocardial infarction can reduce the incidence of reinfarction and mortality.It has a favorable effect on glaucoma, especially primary, open-angle glaucoma and is superior to conventional IOP lowering agents.
