Isovaleraldehyde occurs naturally in citrus, lemon and other essential oils. It has an apple-like aroma at high dilution and a peach aroma at concentrations below 10ppm. In China, GBChemical Book 2760-86 stipulates that it is allowed to be used as edible fragrances, which are mainly used for preparing various fruit flavors. The product is an intermediate of the antispasmolytic agent neocutine.
