It is used for jet fuel, gasoline and gas. It is a transparent liquid with melting point of 21-23 ℃ and boiling point of 248-249 ℃.
It is also used in the printing industry. It is stable in acidic, neutral and alkaline solutions and is not easily biodegradable. It does not absorb ultraviolet light, so it cannot be photodegradated directly.
