Product Description
Ethylenebis(tetrabromophthalimide) is an additive fire retardant that is added to a polymer mixture to produce a blend. Ethylenebis(tetrabromophthalimide) is used in high impact polystyrene (HIPS), polyethylene, polypropylene, thermoplastic polyesters, polyamide, ethylene propylene-diene terpolymers (EPDM rubbers) and other synthetic rubbers, polycarbonate, ethylene copolymers, ionomer resins, epoxies, and textile treatments.

Production method
1. Tetrabromophthalic anhydride, methanol, ethylenediamine as raw materials, by two steps synthesis. Tetrabromophthalic anhydride was first heated in methanol by reflux reaction. Monomethyl tetrabromophthalate is obtained. Then, add ethylenediamine methanol solution, continue the reflux reaction, after the reaction, cooling, filtration, drying, to obtain white crystalline ethylenediamine bis (tetrabromophthalate monomethyl), and then in direct space and 136℃ heating for a long time, to obtain ethylenediamine (tetrabromophthalamide).
2. Add tetrabromophthalic anhydride and methanol to the reactor, stir and heat to reflux for reaction, reaction for 2h to produce monomethyl tetrabromophthalate:
3. Add ethylenediamine methanol solution and continue heating reflux reaction under agitation. After the reaction is completed, it is cooled, filtered and dried to obtain white crystalline ethylenediamine bis (monomethyl tetrabromate):
4. Add ethylenediamine bis (monomethyl tetrabromophthalate) to a vacuum drying oven, keep warm under vacuum at 136℃, and remove methanol and water. This white crystal is treated under vacuum heating to remove methanol and water, and finally a yellow powder solid is obtained, which is the product EBT.
Use
This product is an additive flame retardant recently developed abroad, with excellent thermal stability, UV resistance, non-volatilization, non-precipitation, odorless, especially does not affect the electrical properties of the product, so it can be used in wires, cables, computer components and automatic instrument components. This product can be used in high impact polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, thermoplastic polyester, nylon, ABS resin, ethylene-propylene copolymer and polycarbonate and other polymer materials. Especially for epoxy resin adhesive flame retardant effect is excellent. It can also be used in wires, cables, computer components and automatic instrument components.
