1-Methylimidazole

Overview: 

N-methylimidazole is 1-methylimidazole, mainly used as organic synthesis intermediates, ionic liquids and resin curing agents, adhesives, such as deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis and hydroxyacetylation catalyst and for pouring, bonding and FRP and other fields. Therefore, optimizing the synthesis process of N-methylimidazole has good application value and practical significance. At present, studies on the preparation methods of N-methylimidazole mainly focus on 6 methods: synthesis of 1, 2-dicarbonyl compounds, VanLeusen synthesis, Phillips synthesis, Wohl-Marckwald synthesis, Witting synthesis and N-methylation synthesis.

Preparation:

A continuous preparation method of N-methylimidazole, using Hβ molecular sieve as catalyst, in a tubular reactor, mixed ammonia containing ammonia and methylamine, and mixed aldehyde containing formaldehyde and glyoxal were catalyzed by gas phase reaction, and the reaction products were separated by distillation to obtain N-methylimidazole. 

The specific steps are as follows: 

(1) Hβ molecular sieve catalyst is added to the tubular reactor, and the raw materials mixed with ammonia and aldehyde are heated and vaporized, and then continuously passed into the tubular reactor, and the gas mixture generated by the gas phase catalytic reaction is condensed to obtain N-methylimidazole crude product; 

(2) The crude N-methylimidazole product obtained in step (1) was added to the decompression side line rectification column for distillation and separation. The pressure of the decompression side line rectification column was controlled to be 0.20MPa, and the discharge of N-methylimidazole in the side line of the decompression side line rectification column was ≥99.0wt %. Water with purity above 99.0wt % was obtained from the top of the decompression side line rectification column. The discharge from the bottom of the decompression side line rectification column is a high boiling mixture containing trace N-methylimidazole. 

(3) The water with purity above 99.0wt % obtained from the top of the decompressing side line rectification tower is added to the rectification tower and separated by rectification. The aqueous solution of mixed ammonia and mixed aldehyde obtained from the top of the rectification tower is recycled as raw materials, and the material discharged from the bottom of the rectification tower is water.
