Production method
The chlorination reaction was made by direct chlorination of naphthalene. Zinc was used as catalyst, the ratio of naphthalene to chlorine was 1:0.04-1.17, the amount of catalyst was 0.4-0.5% of the weight of naphthalene, the chlorination time was 3-6h, the reaction temperature was 90-95℃, the average yield of 1-chloronaphthalene was 81.7%, and the purity of the product was 96% after secondary fractation. Iodine can also be used as a catalyst to react in the solvent chlorobenzene, the reaction temperature is 60-70℃, and the reaction is ended by passing chlorine for 6h. Direct chlorination method produces 2-chloronaphthalene at the same time, accounting for about 2-20%, and the two isomers have similar boiling points (2-chloronaphthalene boiling point 264~266℃), and their chemical properties are similar, and it is difficult to separate. A small amount of production can also be obtained by diazotization and replacement of methylnaphthylamine.
Use
An infusion for the microscopic determination of crystalline refractive index. Solvent for grease. Gas chromatography fixed liquid (maximum use temperature 75℃, solvent chloroform, methanol), separation and analysis of lower hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons, selective retention of aromatic compounds, can separate xylene isomers.
