α-(Aminomethyl)-3-(trifluoromethoxy)benzenemethanol is used as a reagent in the synthesis of potent and selective ethanolamine inhibitors of bacterial phenylalanyl tRNA synthetase. It is also used as a reagent in the synthesis of 1-aryl-2-((6-aryl)pyrimidin-4-yl)amino)ethanols as competitive inhibitors of fatty acid amide hydrolase.
