PPA2 pyrophosphatase (inorganic) 2 plays a physiological role in the mitochondria. The encoded mitochondrial pyrophosphatase helps to hydrolyze inorganic pyrophosphate into two phosphates. Biallelic PPA2 mutations result in sudden cardiac arrest in infants.
