(5α,12β,19α)-2,3-Didehydro-21-hydroxy-20-oxoaspidospermidine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester

The roots of Catharanthus trichophyllum yield this alkaloid which has been shown to possess the structure given based upon chemical and spectroscopic evidence. It forms a non-crystallizable powder with no definite melting point.
