A macrocyclic alkaloid, celacinnine occurs in the twigs of May tenus arbutifolia. It yields
colourless crystals from EtOH and is laevorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D25 -19°
(CHCl3). Catalytic hydrogenation gives the dihydro derivative with m.p. 172-173°C.
ChEBI: Celacinnine is a spermidine alkaloid that is isolated from Maytenus heterophylla and Maytenus senegalensis. It has a role as a plant metabolite. It is a spermidine alkaloid, a lactam, an enamide, a secondary carboxamide and a tertiary carboxamide.
