Hpmc (HydroxypropylMethylcellulose) belongs to the class of cellulose ethers in which the hydroxyl group is replaced by one or more of the three hydroxyl groups present in the cellulose ring. It is soluble in water and polar organic solvents and is soluble in both hot and cold organic solvents. Compared to other methyl celluloses, HPMC has higher organic solubility and thermoplasticity. When heated, it forms a gel, and the gelation temperature is 75-90℃.
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is hydrophilic (soluble in water), biodegradable and biocompatible and can be used in a wide range of applications including drug delivery, dyes and paints, cosmetics, adhesives, coatings, agriculture and textiles.
