to prepare small unilamellar vesicles
in lipid binding assay
to aid the recovery of phosphoinositides and also to terminate the reaction in phosphatidylinositol 5-phosphate (PtdIns5P) and PtdIns4P assay
in liposome and protein self-aggregation assays
