Succinylcholine is classified as a depolarizing blocking agent, and it blocks acetylcholine receptors by persistent depolarization rather than by the competitive antagonism seen with true curarimimetics. In addition, succinylcholine is inactivated by cholinesterases, limiting the duration of its action. |
