General procedure for the synthesis of 2-amino-N,N-dimethylbenzenesulfonamide from N,N-dimethyl-2-nitrobenzenesulfonamide: N,N-dimethyl-2-nitrobenzenesulfonamide (2.5 g, 10.9 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (100 mL), and palladium/carbon catalyst (250 mg) was added. Hydrogen was introduced into the reaction system and the reaction mixture was stirred for 12 hours at room temperature. Upon completion of the reaction, the palladium/carbon catalyst was removed by filtration. The solvent was removed using a rotary evaporator to afford the target product 2-amino-N,N-dimethylbenzenesulfonamide (2 g, yield: 92%).
