Mild, rather sweet Fir Needle oil type odor, somewhat milder than Bornyl acetate, and
not quite as characteristic, conifer-like.
Fenchyl acetate is colorless mobile liquid. Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and
oils, poorly soluble in propylene glycol.
Reported to be found in the oil from the leaves and terminal branches of Juniperus rigida, in Seseli sibiricum, in rosemary and fennel oils and in the oil of hinoki leaves (Fenarolfs Handbook of Flavor Ingredients, 1975).
By acetylation of fenchyl alcohol (Arctander, 1969).
