It is a siderophore isolated from Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 17400. It has a role as a siderophore and a bacterial metabolite. It is a member of phenols, a monohydroxyquinoline, a quinolinemonocarboxylic acid and an aromatic ether. It is functionally related to a xanthurenic acid.
