2.151 g of 1-bromoadamantane (0.01 mol),0.978 g of dimethylamine hydrochloride (0.012 mol) was added to a 100 mL high-pressure reactor with 15 mL of solvent
1,3-dichloropropane, stirred at room temperature for 30 min, heated to 165 C, and 0.780 g of triethylamine (0.0132 mol) was slowly added to the system. After 18h of reaction, the heating and stirring was turned off. The reaction solution was cooled, the solution was adjusted to alkaline by dropwise addition of 50% NaOH solution, extracted with ether (20 ml x 3), the extract was washed with saturated sodium chloride solution (50 ml x 3), and the crude product was obtained by spinning after drying the organic phase with anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The crude product was recrystallized from methanol to obtain 1.402g of transparent yellowish crystals of N,N-dimethyladamantanamine, with a yield of 78.2%.
