A novel tropane type alkaloid, darlingine occurs in Darlingea ferruginea. It
furnishes colourless needles from EtOH-Et20 and has a specific rotation of [α]19D + 104° (CHCI3). The structure has been determined by chemical degradation
and from spectroscopic analysis.
