Isodesmosine-d4 is an isotopically labelled analog of Isodesmosine (I815050/I815051), which is a lysine cross-linked derivative formed from the condensation of four of such amino acids. It is found in elastin and it has been utilized as a biomarker for an array of elastin-related diseases in mature mammals. Isodesmosine is extremely hygroscopic and must be stored over a desiccant such as silica gel.
