RANTES (Regulated upon Activation, Normal T cell Expressed and Secreted; CCL5) is a chemokine th at brings T cells, monocytes, eosinophils, NK cells, dendritic cells and mast cells to the site of infection or inflammation. RANTES has an unusual kinetic profile and is secreted 3-5 days after the activation of the T cells. It also exhibits antimicrobial activity by inducing the production of nitric oxide in macrophages. The expression of RANTES is regulated mainly by JAK/ST at and NF-KB pathways.
