Ig μ chain C region is a protein encoded by the IGHM gene in humans and is expressed on the surface of T cells. It is associated with agammaglobulinemia-1. Immunoglobulin is expressed in epithelial cell and plays a role in growth and survival. IgG heavy chain is expressed in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). IgM derived from AML might be a novel AML-related molecule th at is involved in leukemogenesis and AML progression. It may serve as a useful molecular marker for designing targeted therapy and monitoring minimal residual disease. Elevated levels of soluble IGM Ligand (sCD40L) were found in serum of patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CU).
