The bark of Aspidosperma populifolium A. DC. yields this alkaloid which forms
colourless crystals on recrystallization from Me2CO and has [α]25D + 3° (c 0.67,
CHC13). The (-)-form is identical with (-)-methyldeacetylaspidofiline.
