5-Amino-2-hydroxybenzene-1-sulfonamide can be useful in the discovery of novel pneumococcal surface antigen A (PsaA) inhibitors using a fragment-based drug design approach. It can also be useful in the preparation of benzenesulfonamides incorporating nitrogenous bases as inhibitors of β-??carbonic anhydrases from the pathogenic fungi Cryptococcus neoformans, Candida glabrata and Malassezia globosa.
