Dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1 is an enzyme encoded by the MAP2K1 gene in humans and its signaling is one of the most important mechanisms for the cytoplasmic transduction of extracellular signals. MAP2K1 is mapped between chromosomes 15q22.1 and q22.33. It is induced with G2 phase MAPK pathway activation. MAP2K1 is associated with extracellular signal regulated kinases pathway and is involved in regulation of multiple cellular processes th at include the cell cycle. Its inhibitors can partially modulate the expression of interferon-stimulated genes.
