2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylcyclohexanone can be used as a synthetic intermediate for the preparation of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylcyclohexanol. Using di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol and isopropanol as starting materials, the reaction is carried out in a Raney nickel catalyst and a high-pressure reactor to first obtain 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylcyclohexanone. Then, the cyclohexanone is reduced with lithium aluminum hydride to obtain the cyclohexanol product. 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylcyclohexanol is mainly used in photography, printing and dyeing, and as a medical intermediate.
2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylcyclohexanone was obtained by adding 10-15% Raney nickel catalyst (mass ratio) and a certain amount of di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol to an autoclave and reacting at 160C to 250C, reaction time 1h to 2h and reaction pressure 10-17Mpa.
