Tributyl(2-phenylethenyl)stannane is a phenylallylating agent as an anion equivalent; 3-carbon component in a [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction with α,β-unsaturated acylirons.

Preparative Methods of Tributyl(2-phenylethenyl)stannane: by the coupling reaction of trans-cinnamylmagnesium bromide with Tri-n-butylchlorostannane (10-20%) or trapping of the lithiated derivative of allylbenzene (s-BuLi in cyclohexane/TMEDA/THF) with tributylchlorostannane at -78 °C (90%).
