Geranyl valerate finds some use in perfumery for
Lavender, Geranium, Appleblossom, Sweet
Pea, Freesia and Peony, and in various Rose
types.
It is also used now and then in flavors, mainly Apple and Peach imitations, and in tobacco flavoring.
Geranyl valerate can be produced by direct esterification of Geraniol
with n-Valenc acid using azeotropic conditions.
