A glucosidic alkaloid, cadambine occurs in Anthocephalus cadamba. It forms
colourless crystals from EtOH and has a specific rotation of [α]D25 - 71 0. It has
been characterized as the crystalline tetraacetate with m.p. 149-151 ° C.
