This mixture of mono-, di-, and triglycerides is produced by the transesterification of wheat germ oil, and is commonly used in moisturizers in concentrations of 0.1 to 5 percent. Although some sources indicate it may be irritating, safety tests show it to be non-sensitizing and non-irritating to the skin. It is considered by some to be somewhat comedogenic.
