1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-6,7-dimethoxy-2-methylisoquinoline

This alkaloid has been obtained from the embryo of Nelumbo nucifera and occurs in the non-phenolic fraction of the extract. The structure has been confirmed by synthesis from vanillin by means of a series of standard reactions.
