Dimethylheptenol has sweet and refreshing floral odor with discretely woody-herbaceous or mildly balsamic
notes. Very suggestive of Lavender/Clary
Sage.
Colorless liquid.
Very slightly soluble in water, soluble in
alcohol and oils.
Has apparently not been reported to occur in nature.
Dimethylheptenol has the pungent power of
Spike Lavender, the floral character of LinaIool, and the sweet-balsamic tonalities of
Tetrahydromuguol, e.g. Which makes it a
very versatile material, useful in Lime, Lavandin, Muguet, Lilac, Rose, woody and
balsamic types, etc.
A by-product in the manufacture of lavandulol.
Tertiary alcohols tend to resist oxidation and not be metabolized readily, but they are usually highly conjugated as glucuronic acids which can be isolated from the urine (Williams, 1959).
