polyester: A condensation polymerformed by the interaction of polyhydricalcohols and polybasic acids.Linear polyesters are saturated thermoplasticsand linked by dipole–dipole attraction as the carbonylgroups are polarized. They are extensivelyused as fibres (e.g. Terylene).Unsaturated polyesters readilycopolymerize to give thermosettingproducts. They are used in the manufactureof glass-fibre products.
