Germander has been tradionally used as a diet aid, a treatment for light diarrhoea, or locally as an analgesic for oral pain. In 1991, the first cases of hepatitis associated with the use of these products were reported to the National System of Pharmacovigilance in France. It is yet uncertain whether contamination possible by pesticides or fungi, may be implicated or whether these cases result from toxic or immuno-allergic reactions to constituents of Germander.
