Ammonium bisulphite is a solution grade fertilizer, available commercially as a 55 to 60% solution. It is made by absorbing sulphur dioxide (obtained as a byproduct from smelting operations) in aqueous ammonia solution. This non-pressurized solution provides both sulphur and nitrogen. It has a salt-out temperature of 0°C.<br/> Ammonium bisulphite is compatible with liquid fertilizers, such as aqueous ammonia and polyphosphate solutions, and can be stored in containers made of steel, aluminum or plastic.
