B2 is a cell permeable inhibitor of SIRT2 (sirtuin 2) (IC50 = 35 μM). B2 promotes inclusion formation in cellular models of both Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. B2 prevents Huntington-mediated proteasome dysfunction and reduces α-synuclein-mediated toxicity. SIRT2 is known to deacetylate histones.
