3-bromodibenzo[b,d]thiophene can be obtained by reduction of dibenzothiophene 5,5-dioxide by reaction with excess lithium aluminium hydride in ether or tetrahydrofuran, and its derivatives can be used in the preparation of luminescent compounds, luminescent layer materials, organic electroluminescent devices and electronic devices.
