5-(2-Nitrophenyl)furfural (5-(2-nitrophenyl)-2-furfuraldehyde) was used in the synthesis of (5-(2-nitrophenyl)furfuran-2-yl)methanol.It may be used in the synthesis of 2-{[5-(2-nitrophenyl)furan-2-yl]methyleneamino}benzoic acid (HOBZ) by reacting with 2-aminobenzoic acid.
