(Bromoethynyl)triisopropylsilane is an important sterically hindered organosilicon protective agent, mainly used to protect various types of hydroxyl groups, especially in multifunctional hydroxyl compounds. It can be selectively protected and deprotected for the synthesis of nucleosides, nucleotides and sugar compounds.
