Tetromycin B is an unusual tetronic acid structure, Tetromycin B has displayed pronounced activity against antibiotic susceptible and resistant Gram positive bacteria including MRSA. It is structurally similar to chlorothricin, kijanimicin, tetrocarcin, versipelostatin and saccharocarcin. Tetromycin B may also target the posphatidylinositide-3’-kinase/Akt signaling pathway, much like Tetromycin A.
