The α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor (AMPA receptor), a heterotetrameric transmembrane receptor, is found in various areas of the brain and mediates fast synaptic transmission in the central nervous system (1). Cl-HIBO (chloro-homoibotenic acid) is a subtype selective AMPA receptor agonist (2).
