All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.
The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. 일반 설명
The antibody detects endogenous level of total ESA (FLOT2) protein.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) might function as a hepatic stem/progenitor cell-specific marker. EpCAM is an oncogene activated by deliverance of its intracellular domain, which is involved in transducing signals into the cell nucleus by associating with elements of the wnt pathway. Since the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is highly expressed in premalignant hepatic tissues and in a subset of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), it might act as an early biomarker of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). EpCAM gene mutation leads to a rare autosomal recessive diarrheal disorder in infants called congenital tufting enteropathy (CTE). Like other cell adhesion molecules, EpCAM plays a crucial role in cell-cell interaction and it is also associated with tight junction protein, like claudin-7. Experimental studies hypothesize that EpCAM is involved in normal intestinal and crypt villus axis development .
