  • Chemical Properties 1,2-Butanediol is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water.
  • Uses 1,2-Butanediol can be used as an ink solvent, as well as in the production of polyester resins and plasticizers. It can also be used as a raw material for unsaturated polyester resins by reacting 1,2-butanediol with unsaturated dicarboxylic acid.

The product was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the solvent was evaporated to give 1,2-butanediol 5.65 kg, yield 88%.
