Description
Pigment Yellow-16, 20040 [5979-28-2] is the bis(N-acetoacetarylide)
pigment that has the greatest industrial importance.
Chemical Properties
Green light yellow. Melting point 325 ℃. Better thermal stability below 160°C. not soluble in water. It does not change color to dilute acid and dilute alkali, and has good light fastness.
Characteristics
Pigment yellow 16 is neutral yellow, the specific surface area of Permanet yellow NCG is 16m2/g; high tinting strength, light fastness grade 5, 1/3SD light fastness grade 4-5, heat resistance (230℃/5min). It can be used for metal decoration printing ink and pigment printing color paste coloring. It is suitable for packaging printing ink. Due to its easy migration and crystallization, it is less used in PVC; it has good color strength in polyolefin and good thermal stability (230-240 ℃/5min), but due to thermal cracking, the application is limited to above 200℃.
Uses
Pigment Yellow 16 is used for coloring of paint, printing ink and plastic.
Preparation
Pigment Yellow 16 is produced by coupling two equivalents of diazotized 2,4-dichloroaniline with bisacetoacetylated o-toluidine (Naphthol AS-G). The pigment has a medium-yellow shade and is particularly suitable for paints because of its good fastness to blooming and overspray. It is also used in printing inks and plastics.
