Production Methods
Chloramben-methylammonium is obtained by first producing chloramben, the parent substituted benzoic acid herbicide, through the same robust aromatic substitution and acylation chemistry used for other legacy auxinic herbicides. Once the technical-grade acid is purified, manufacturers generate the methylammonium salt by reacting chloramben with a controlled amount of methylamine, forming the technical material.
