1-(2-Hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-1-propanone is an intermediate in the synthesis of 1-[2-Hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxy-3-(1-oxopropoxy)phenyl]-1-propanone (H941455) which is a reactant used in the preparation of Stigmatellin A (S686780).

Preparation

Preparation by reaction of propionyl chloride with phloroglucinol trimethyl ether in the presence of aluminium chloride in ethyl ether at 0° for 40 h (64%) or 48 h (71%).
